“Terroir - the synergy of locations, soils, climate and craftsmanship”
The Pfeffingen Winery
in the beautiful village of Bad Dürkheim
Surrounded by picturesque vineyards, the Pfeffingen winery is located near Bad Dürkheim, directly on the German Wine Route. In Pfeffingen, tradition and craftsmanship meet technical innovation and sustainability. When cultivating our vineyards, we focus on resource-conserving, efficient and sustainable working methods. We work with nature, because the vines provide us with the basis for our high-quality Palatinate wines. Characterized by our different vineyard sites, we bring wines with the highest standards of quality and taste to the bottle.
Bad Dürkheim & the vineyards of Pfeffingen winery
Our wines are characterized by their unique origin. The old Roman vineyard near Bad Dürkheim / Ungstein is evidence of the wine-growing tradition in our region that goes back thousands of years. Even back then, the different deep soils of the Mittelhaardt were appreciated. The Pfeffingen winery cultivates plots in many of the award-winning vineyard sites around Bad Dürkheim and Ungstein, such as the Ungsteiner Herrenberg and the Ungsteiner Weilberg. Protected by the Palatinate Forest, a unique micro-climate is created on the slopes of our vineyards. The 17 hectares of vineyards are cultivated sustainably and the soil is cultivated exclusively by machine. When harvesting our grapes, we rely on gentle, selective hand-picking. This is how our unique Palatinate wines are created, characterized by their unmistakable terroir.
Sustainability at the Pfeffingen winery
As winegrowers, we have a responsibility to the environment. We therefore rely on sustainable practices in all areas of our viticulture. As our winery in the Palatinate is not far from the large forest area “Pfälzer Wald” and is surrounded by vineyards, we strive to promote biodiversity through a variety of projects. As a member of Fair and Green, we are committed to responsible and environmentally conscious viticulture.
